Endurance

Perseverance is an important trait for anyone who decides to take new steps – whether you are starting a new business, achieving big challenging goals or something that requires you to perform large and powerful tasks.

Perseverance is the power to resist something challenging, the ability to do something difficult for a long time.

When you have perseverance, you know that you can handle the consequences of personal decisions and you are willing to stick to it.

One of the main reasons why people fail in their own business is because they do not have the perseverance to continue operating after they have failed. And most of us fail and fail and fail again!

Discipline versus perseverance
Discipline and perseverance are really two separate things. You can be incredibly disciplined but still not be able to tolerate the pain of perseverance. Commitment, self-discipline and perseverance are all qualities of someone who has the ability to endure over time.

Despite setbacks, successful entrepreneurs can keep the goal in mind and push through their challenges. With time and experience, you discover and set a good pace for yourself and move on.

Malcolm Gladwell, author of ”The Outlier”, says it takes 10,000 hours to get to a championship. Most people quit long before their 10,000 hours because they get bored, they do not see improvements fast enough or they think they have ”done enough” and move on to their next adventure.

Perseverance develops every time you reject the temptation to give up. From fighting difficulties, staying focused to enduring unexpected challenges, dealing with difficult customers and dealing with an ever-changing business economy, it’s easy to reach a point where you do not think you can or should continue.

You have to understand that it is not when you are at the top of your goal that you discover your best self… it is when you get through your hardest hours that your true strength comes out. It is when most people would give up and stop looking for the next solution that failures occur.

How to build endurance?
To begin with, you need to get through the growing pains to reach your goal. Prepare now for your big vision goal to come true, because when you need to act – when it arises – the time to prepare is over. Start now to develop qualities that will help you succeed when times are tough.

A good quote from Caroline Myss, author of Entering the Castle, ”Without the ability to endure, you are impatient, demanding, short-lived and you tend to abandon projects that you are destined to complete because you can not immediately see their significance… With perseverance you know that you can survive whatever is desired of you. ”
